First Trip in 2016
Hello, long time no see..
This is my first trip in 2016. Finally… (my last trip was on October 2015) and I really need a vacation!! 😀
I decided to go to Belitung island with my hubz, and some friends.
Belitung (or in English, Billiton) is an island on the east coast of Sumatra, Indonesia in the Java Sea. It covers 4,800.6 km2 (1,853.5 sq mi), and had a population of 271,868 in 2014. Administratively, it forms part of the province of Bangka – Belitung Islands. The island is known for its pepper and for its tin. It was in the possession of the United Kingdom from 1812 until Britain ceded control of the island to the Netherlands in the Anglo – Dutch Treaty of 1824. Its main town is Tanjung Pandan. (from Wikipedia).
Belitung is a small island, the local people there called it “Belitong” and why I choose to go to Belitung is because there’s a lot of marine tourism in there (I love beach and sea so much). Besides that, my mom was born in Bangka Island (one province with Belitung Island) and I as her daughter never once go to Bangka Island (this time I don’t go to Bangka Island either but to Belitung Island, HAHA)
Belitung tourism start to popular in 2014. It’s because of a movie called “Laskar Pelangi” or Rainbow Troops based on true story about life of Andrea Hirata in 2008 and slowly make a lot of people in Indonesia want to go to Belitung and see the beautiful beach by themselves.
So, what the privileged about Belitung Island? In my opinion is …. (hit the drum please….) “The Big Rock” in every beach and around the island!!! It’s so BIG!! and a lot! With many form and shape!! I’m amazed with that rocks! The rock it’s a granite rock.
The origin of the rock is from congelation of lava from 65 – 200 million years ago. As it seemed separated from one to another rocks, but according to the research, all rocks that spread in that islands are from ONE BIG GRANITE ROCKS!! 😮
Cool isn’t?? 😀 😀
